LaseMD Laser Resurfacing

Resurfacing that rebuilds glow, not a week off work.

A gentle fractional thulium laser that clears sun damage and pigment, softens fine lines, and restores the kind of brightness that makes people ask what changed.

What LaseMD actually does.

LaseMD is a non-ablative fractional laser using a 1927 nm thulium wavelength. Rather than removing the skin's surface, it creates thousands of microscopic channels through it, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. That fractional approach is why healing is fast compared to traditional ablative resurfacing.

Those microchannels do two things at once. They trigger the skin's natural repair response, driving collagen and elastin production and clearing epidermal pigment. They also act as a delivery route, letting serums applied immediately afterward penetrate far deeper than they otherwise could.

Treatment intensity is fully tunable, from a light refresh with almost no visible recovery to a more aggressive session for stubborn pigment. That range is what makes it usable year-round and across all skin types.

Who it suits best

LaseMD suits patients whose main complaints are tone and texture: sun damage, brown spots, dullness, fine lines, rough skin, or melasma. It is safe across skin types when settings are chosen appropriately — which is exactly why device settings should be selected by a physician who knows your skin.

Concerns treated

What LaseMD addresses.

Sun damage and age spots

Lentigines, solar lentigines, freckling, and the accumulated pigment of Texas sun exposure.

Melasma and hyperpigmentation

Melasma and post-inflammatory pigment, approached carefully and conservatively.

Fine lines and wrinkles

Early lines softened through collagen remodeling rather than surface removal.

Rough or uneven texture

Dullness, enlarged-looking pores, and grainy texture that resists skincare.

Acne scarring

Textural irregularity and post-acne marks, often as part of a combination plan.

Actinic keratoses

Precancerous sun-damage lesions, treated within a broader skin-health plan.

What to expect

How a visit works.

01

Consultation and prep

We assess your pigment pattern and skin type, then choose an intensity. You will be advised to pause retinoids and exfoliating acids beforehand.

02

Treatment

A session typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. Most patients describe warmth and tingling; topical numbing is available. A targeted serum is applied immediately afterward while the microchannels are open.

03

Recovery and follow-up

Expect redness like a mild sunburn for a day or two, then several days of dry, sandpaper-like texture as the skin turns over. Most patients do a short series spaced about four weeks apart.

Brighter, smoother, and unmistakably your own skin.

Results

How results unfold.

The first week is a turnover process. Redness settles within a day or two, then treated pigment darkens slightly before flaking away, and the skin feels dry and textured for roughly five to seven days. That phase is expected — it is the old surface making way.

Most patients see visible brightening and smoother texture within one to two weeks. Collagen remodeling continues quietly for months afterward, so firmness and fine lines keep improving. A single session helps mild concerns, but most people get their best result from a short series spaced about four weeks apart, with occasional maintenance thereafter.

Common questions

LaseMD, answered.

How much downtime does LaseMD require?

Less than most resurfacing lasers, but it is not zero. Expect redness resembling a mild sunburn for one to two days, followed by about five to seven days of dry, sandpaper-like texture and light flaking. Makeup is generally fine after about 24 hours. Lighter settings mean less visible recovery.

Does LaseMD hurt?

Most patients describe a warm, prickling sensation rather than pain, and topical numbing can be applied beforehand for comfort. Warmth may linger for a few hours afterward and responds well to cool compresses.

How many LaseMD treatments will I need?

Mild concerns often improve noticeably after one session. For meaningful change in pigment, texture, or fine lines, most patients do a series of two to four treatments spaced about four weeks apart, then maintain periodically.

Is LaseMD safe for darker skin tones?

Yes, when settings are chosen appropriately for your skin type. Conservative parameters and proper pre- and post-care matter a great deal here, which is why treatment planning is handled by a board-certified dermatologist rather than delegated by default.

Can LaseMD treat melasma?

It can be part of a melasma plan, but melasma is a chronic condition that requires an ongoing strategy — sun protection, topicals, and careful device settings — rather than a one-time fix. Overly aggressive treatment can worsen it, so we approach melasma conservatively.

When should I schedule LaseMD before an event?

Allow at least two weeks so flaking has fully resolved and brightening has set in. If you have a wedding or major event, tell us the date at your consultation and we will build the timing backward from it.
